Here is my current build of a simple token deck, with a slight black splash. No green splash in this varient. If I build the W/b/g build I will post it up on here.
Main Deck:
4 Blade Splicer - Bread and butter token card. Apply early pressure and sometimes just outright win with this potent creature.
4 Doomed Traveler - Our one drop. Nothing special, but your opponent sure doesnt want to kill it!
3 Elspeth Tirel - Our end curve bomb. If you set her up properly, her -2 will be very lethal.
1 Geist-Honored Monk - Another 5 drop. Doesnt seem nearly as good as Elspeth, but I threw one in to spice it up.
1 Grave Titan - My infamous "one-of"
2 Hero of Bladehold - Powerhouse, but competes with Sorin as a 4 drop. Sorin usually wins that battle, so I dropped her down to 2.
4 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad - Cornerstone of the deck, along with lingering souls. I plan to 99% of the time use his -2 when he hits.
1 Honor of the Pure - Iffy, but it does boost over half of the deck, and you never want to go without an anthem effect.
4 Intangible Virtue - Essential
4 Lingering Souls - Cornerstone. So much value for so little resources.
2 Midnight Haunting - Lingering souls 5 and 6, with the added benefit of being instant.
2 Mortarpod - So powerful with Vault of the Archangel.
2 Oblivion Ring - Basic Removal
2 Shrine of Loyal Legions - Gonna toy around with this, I dont like it but we are short on 2 drops so it makes the cut for now.
1 Evolving Wilds - Random one of to fix mana and thin deck.
4 Isolated Chapel - Essential
11 Plains
6 Swamp
3 Vault of the Archangel - People are running 2, 3 and 4. I dont ever want more than 1. But I want 1 for every game that goes long. I think 3 is the correct number.
Looks nasty but theres something that seems a little off. Have you played tested any?
ReplyDeletenope. just sleeved it up. There are two things I dont like about it - first, you need to be fast to beat control, and this has no speed. It feels like midrange to me, nothing really happens until turn 4 and 5. That's one thing that green has on black - mana ramp. Second, too much varient. But thats understandable as it hasnt been playtested. Here, I'll break down what is flagship and what I have doubts in:
ReplyDeleteFlagship:
3 Elspeth - I am certain this is the correct number
4 Sorin - duh
4 Intangable Virtue
4 Blade Splicer
4 Lingering Souls
4 Doomed Traveler
Some number of Hero of the Bladehold is required. Might be 3 or 4.
3 Vault of the Archangel - Amazing all the time, but even better with Mortarpod. I think testing will show that this is almost always better than Gavony, and this card will just beat out Green/White tokens every time.
Doubts:
Geist-honored Monk - Already took out. Still like it tho
Grave Titan - Already took out. Prefer White Sun in its place because its usually just as powerful plus its bonkers late game.
Honor of the pure - I think this needs another anthem 4 of, but Honor only hits half the tokens. Sorin, Loyal Legions (this ones the biggie), Germ, Zombie, and other tokens arent effected
Gather the township - This is a real option if I run 4 Honor of the Pure and replace Loyal Legions.
Mortarpod - Gives the deck a huge out against nearly anything when combined with Vault of the Archangel. Otherwise, its still a fair token. Dont want to cut this one if possible.
Midnight Haunting - More flyers the better, right? Instant speed helps for some combat step trickery.
Oblivion Ring - Seems needed, but if the deck swings out the gates quickly then it might be sideboard only.
Just finished testing it. Mortarpod was really a star. Loyal Legions sometimes threatened game, and sometimes irrelvant. O Ring was usually needed. I'm leaning towards running 4 honor of the pure and 4 gather the township, but not sure what I want to take out. I know I'd take out Loyal Legions and Midnight Haunting, but what other 3 cards? Mortarpod is really my only flex area and it was just insane against delver and g/w tokens.
